Redo-TAVR with balloon-expandable valves: outcomes from a national registry

Cardiology Update

In light of the growing number of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), there is an increasing demand for data regarding the management of failed TAVR procedures, including the possibility of a repeat TAVR intervention. In a recent study published in the Lancet, researchers evaluated the safety and effectiveness of redo-TAVR, focusing on its performance within a national registry.

Naturally Occurring Atherosclerosis Progression and In-Stent Restenosis: Exploring Histomorphological Associations Using Optical Coherence Tomography

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology

Abstract: The mechanism of in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains elusive, and in-stent neoatherosclerosis (ISNA) may hold siginificant pathophysiological implications. Nevertheless, the correlation between ISNA and the progression of untreated coronary segments affected by native atherosclerosis remains incompletely investigated. This study enrolled 225 patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease and multivessel disease (MVD).

Management of Poststroke Hyperglycemia: Results of the TEXAIS Randomized Clinical Trial

Stroke Journal

Stroke, Volume 54, Issue 12 , Page 2962-2971, December 1, 2023. BACKGROUND:Hyperglycemia in acute ischemic stroke reduces the efficacy of stroke thrombolysis and thrombectomy, with worse clinical outcomes. Insulin-based therapies are difficult to implement and may cause hypoglycemia. We investigated whether exenatide, a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist, would improve stroke outcomes, and control poststroke hyperglycemia with minimal hypoglycemia.METHODS:The TEXAIS trial (Treatmen

Stratification of acute myocardial and endothelial cell injury, salvage index and final infarct size by systematic microRNA profiling in acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction

Coronary Artery Disease Journal

Aim Acute injury and subsequent remodelling responses to ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) are major determinants of clinical outcome. Current imaging and plasma biomarkers provide delayed readouts of myocardial injury and recovery. Here, we sought to systematically characterize all microRNAs (miRs) released during the acute phase of STEMI and relate miR release to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings to predict acute and late responses to STEMI, from a single early blood s

Preserved Corticospinal Tract Revealed by Acute Perfusion Imaging Relates to Better Outcome After Thrombectomy in Stroke

Stroke Journal

Stroke, Volume 54, Issue 12 , Page 3081-3089, December 1, 2023. BACKGROUND:The indication for mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in stroke patients with large vessel occlusion has been constantly expanded over the past years. Despite remarkable treatment effects at the group level in clinical trials, many patients remain severely disabled even after successful recanalization.
