Golgi protein 73 promotes LPS-induced cardiac dysfunction via mediating myocardial apoptosis and autophagy

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology

Sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction represents a major cause of high mortality in intensive care units with limited therapeutic options. Golgi protein 73 (GP73) has been implicated in various diseases. However, the role of GP73 in LPS-induced cardiac dysfunction is unclear. Here, we established sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction model by LPS administration in wild type (WT) and GP73 knockout (GP73-/-) mice.

Basic Science of Cardiac Contractility Modulation Therapy: Molecular and Electrophysiological Mechanisms

HeartRhythm

In heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, profound cellular and molecular changes have recently been documented in the failing myocardium. These changes include altered calcium handling and metabolic efficiency of the cardiac myocyte, reactivation of the fetal gene program, changes in the electrophysiological properties of the heart, and accumulation of collagen (fibrosis) at the interstitial level.Cardiac contractility modulation therapy

Location, location, location…

HeartRhythm

There has been a great evolution in pacemaker lead and technology from the initial pacemakers and leads that were originally available. With the first leads, any place in the heart that would allow good sensing and stimulation thresholds defined optimal lead placement. However, with advances in technology, the ability to pace a specific area or region of the heart has become available.

Expansion of Pathogenic Cardiac Macrophages in Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Myocarditis

Circulation

Circulation, Ahead of Print. BACKGROUND:Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), antibodies targeting PD-1 (programmed cell death protein 1)/PD-L1 (programmed death-ligand 1) or CTLA4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte–associated protein 4), have revolutionized cancer management but are associated with devastating immune-related adverse events including myocarditis.
