BackgroundLower hippocampal volume is associated with late‐life cognitive decline and is an important, but nonspecific marker for clinical Alzheimer's dementia. Cerebrovascular disease may also be associated with hippocampal volume. Higher systolic blood pressures and advanced age attenuate associations.
