Spontaneous coronary artery dissection Dissection of a coronary artery may occur in the context of atherosclerosis, or be iatrogennic during angiography or angioplasty. In the absence of these factors it is termed spontaneous coronary artery dissection ( SCAD ). A recent study found that SCAD causes almost 20% of STEMI in young women.

Nonobstructive coronary disease by coronary angiography should be differentiated between patients with normal coronary arteries and minimal luminal irregularities (less than 30% stenosis) and mild to moderate coronary atherosclerosis (30% to less than 50%). FFR can be useful.
