Patients with atrial fibrillation and heart failure, a condition in which the heart muscle cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs, benefit from ablation to alleviate symptoms, increase the heart’s strength, and improve their prognosis. Prolonged anticoagulation may be required depending on the risk of blood clots.

Remaining work‐up including A1c, LDL, urine drug screen, EKG, transthoracic echocardiogram, and telemetry was unrevealing other than for an LDL of 152. Other diagnostic consideration included atherosclerosis. Routine EEG showed moderate generalized showing. Overall, the underlying etiology of his condition remained elusive.
