Background Cardiogenic shock (CS) induced by severe aortic stenosis (AS) is a life-threatening condition with high mortality. Aim This study aimed to systematically review and analyse the existing evidence on outcomes of emergency transcatheter aortic valve implantation (eTAVI) and emergency balloon aortic valvuloplasty (eBAV) in CS patients.
With the maturity of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) technology and its increasing application in clinical practice, complications and long-term management after TEVAR have become issues of concern. Here, we report two cases of TEVAR for thoracic aortic dissection.

BackgroundPatients who underwent surgical repair of supravalvular aortic stenosis (SVAS) are at high risk for postoperative major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Patients were stratified into CPB duration >2h and CPB duration 2h groups based on intraoperative CPB duration.
Data shows, versus surgery, the Evolut transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) system delivers a numerically lower rate of all-cause mortality or disabling stroke at five years, strong valve performance and durable clinical outcomes. Reardon, M.D.,
Previous studies have reported a protective effect of type 2 diabetes on the incidence and progression of aortic aneurysms. We investigated whether this protective effect extends to aortic dissections.
Getty Images milla1cf Mon, 01/29/2024 - 14:24 January 29, 2024 — Despite national guidelines recommending surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) for patients under age 65 with severe aortic stenosis , many hospitals are still opting for a nonsurgical approach in patients under 60—possibly with poorer survival rates.
milla1cf Mon, 12/18/2023 - 15:43 December 18, 2023 — The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital has received the highest possible three-star recognition in all of the cardiac surgery categories in the 2020-2023 Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) report. The Mount Sinai Hospital is also No.
Background Redo sternotomy aortic root surgery is technically demanding, and the evidence on outcomes is mostly from retrospective, small sample, single-centre studies. We report the trend, early clinical results and outcome predictors of redo aortic root replacement over 20 years in the United Kingdom. Age >59 (OR: 2.99, CI: 1.92–4.65,

After 24 hours, the patient was readmitted to the hospital with chest pain and troponin elevation, without ECG changes. A transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) revealed a mobile mass on the right coronary cusp of the aortic valve ( figure 1 , ). Figure 1 A mobile mass (1.88
Morristown Medical Center’s Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute’s structural heart program recently reported it has reached a significant milestone of performing over 5,000 transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures, the first in New Jersey and among the first to accomplish this in the United States.
BackgroundThe widely used Bentall procedure is the criterion standard treatment for aortic root pathology. After inverse probability of treatment weighting, no significant differences in the in‐hospital mortality (odds ratio, 0.96 [95% CI, 0.77–1.19];P=0.716) Journal of the American Heart Association, Ahead of Print.
Objective Cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) regulates CD4 + T -cell differentiation and participates in vascular stiffness and atherosclerosis and is involved in the progression of Stanford type B aortic dissection (TBAD). Seven (5.5%) patients experienced in-hospital mortality. pg/ml vs. 451.5 pg/ml, P = 0.006).
A nationwide observational analysis of patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and cardiogenic shock (CS) who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) or surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) determined that patients who underwent TAVR had lower in-hospital complications and resource utilization compared with SAVR.
BackgroundThe left subclavian artery (LSA) can be intentionally covered by a stent graft to acquire adequate landing zones for a proximal entry tear near the LSA during thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). The Castor single-branched stent graft is designed to treat type B aortic dissection (TBAD) to retain the LSA during TEVAR.
A normal functioning aortic valve has three leaflets, usually referred to as cusps, and is positioned at the end of the left ventricle. An aortic valve replacement is required if someone suffers from Aortic Valve Stenosis or Aortic Valve Insufficiency. That’s a reasonable question!
Webinar New FDA-Approved Aortic Technologies kchalko Thu, 11/10/2022 - 12:30 November 3, 2022 Recent approvals by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have made available two new technologies for treating aortic disease. Gore & Associates and Terumo Aortic. This webinar is supported by W.L. Moderators G.
A 49-year-old male patient who had undergone ascending aorta and aortic arch reconstruction after an aortic dissection Type A was evaluated with echocardiography before being discharged from our hospital. A loculated pericardial effusion was identified, necessitating pericardiocentesis.
Two years ago, the patient suffered from type A aortic dissection. As a result, partial aortic dissection artificial vascular replacement and partial aortic arch artificial vascular replacement were performed. After the operation, no abnormal shunt was found, and the short - term treatment effect was satisfactory.

There were no statistically significant differences in terms of stroke, paravalvular leak, mechanical ventilation time, blood transfusion requirements, pacemaker implantation, reexploration for bleeding, conversion, wound infection, or in-hospital stay.
Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (rAAA) remain one of the most clinically challenging and technically complex emergencies in contemporary vascular surgery practice. Despite these advances, current postoperative outcomes remain sobering since morbidity and mortality rates ranging from 25%-50% persist among modern published series.

Computed tomography angiography revealed an aorto-caval fistula complicating infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Although Impella or intra‐aortic balloon pump (IABP) is frequently used for left ventricular unloading (LVU) during VA‐ECMO treatment, there are limited data on comparative outcomes. In‐hospital mortality was higher with ECMO with Impella (54.8%) compared with ECMO only (50.4%) and ECMO with IABP (48.4%). versus 25.8%;P‐trend<0.001).
Methods This real-world, multicentre registry included CS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention between 2017 and 2021 in 14 Dutch hospitals. MCS was deployed in 516 patients (23.3%), of which the intra-aortic balloon pump was used most frequently (n=253, 49.0%). years and predominantly male (72.8%, n=1613).
