EGF mapping allows physicians to detect EGF sources and is designed to individualize ablation strategies based on underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms to potentially improve outcomes. AFib is the most common heart rhythm disorder, affecting more than 30 million patients worldwide.
milla1cf Fri, 02/02/2024 - 17:18 February 2, 2024 — GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) announces the latest innovation in electrophysiology (EP), the Prucka 3 with CardioLab EP Recording system, to help clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. million people in the United States by 2050 and 17.9 million in Europe by 2060.
milla1cf Thu, 01/18/2024 - 14:21 January 18, 2024 — Abbott announced the first global procedures have been conducted using the company's new Volt Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System to treat patients battling common abnormal heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation (AFib).
In electrophysiology, innovation is king, but it is often incremental, and it almost always lacks rationale, comprehensive clinical documentation and relevance for hospitals that try to balance the increasing costs of new technology with increasing demand and reimbursement that just can’t keep pace.
It is with great pride that we announce the resounding success of ADN CoE' s AFibAblation Training program, the second installment in our esteemed Ablation Series, held at the prestigious 9 Eylül University Heart Rhythm Management Centre.
The AFib pulsed field ablation treatment era officially began in the US last week, following the FDA approval of Medtronic’s PulseSelect Pulsed Field Ablation System for the treatment of both paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation.
Electrophysiology note : "In the context of pre-excited atrial fibrillation, we would recommend proceeding with mapping and ablation of accessory pathway (particularly given high risk features including his shortest pre-excited R-R interval is 25 X6 = 150/minute ). Pre-excitation results in a short PR interval.
Volta Medical has announced it has entered into a Joint Development Agreement with GE Healthcare to enhance arrhythmia procedures with artificial intelligence (AI)-driven electrophysiology technologies. 1 Approximately 33 million patients worldwide are living with AFib.
Additional rhythm-control strategies are frequently continued after index ablation for atrial fibrillation (AFib), according to a study published Feb. 12 in JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology.
During its Annual Conference, HRS 2024, the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) announced findings from three new studies demonstrating the safety and efficacy of pulsed field ablation (PFA), a nonthermal ablation treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). See full findings from the FARADISE, admIRE Study, and Advent Trial here.
An international consensus statement on how to treat atrial fibrillation with catheter or surgical ablation has been published in EP Europace, a journal of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and was recently presented at EHRA 2024, a scientific congress held April 7-9 in Berlin, Germany. KEY Point: Nothing other than AFib with WPW results in a ventricular response this fast ( which is why Figure-2 is pathognomonic for AFib in a patient with WPW ). Regarding AFib with WPW: The very rapid heart rate and at times extremely short R-R intervals put the patient with AFib and WPW at risk of cardiac arrest from VFib.
Medical treatment for heart failure was optimized and after a few days the patient was discharged with referral to VT ablation procedure. The patient also has a history of AFib and HFmrEF ( = H eart F ailure with M inimally- R educed E jection F raction ). After atrial rhythm/SR was restored the patient slowly improved.

Patient was referred to electrophysiologic testing due to suspicion of afib and WPW. During electrophysiologic testing AVRT was induced, which degenerated to afib with ortho and antidromic conduction. Radiofrequency ablation was performed for a right sided posteroseptal bypass tract. Echocardiography was normal.
tim.hodson Thu, 03/27/2025 - 12:18 March 27, 2025 Abbott recently announced it has received CE Mark in Europe for the Volt PFA System to treat patients battling atrial fibrillation (AFib). Today, approximately 8 million Europeans over the age of 65 are living with AFib, a number expected to double over the next 30 years.
Furthermore, it includes the latest recommendations which specifically address AF and thromboembolic risk assessment, anticoagulation, left atrial appendage occlusion, AF catheter or surgical ablation, and risk factor modification and AF prevention. As such, the Class of Recommendation for catheter ablation has been upgraded.
Higher up the cardiovascular patient pathway, AI-based ECG algorithms that create 2D and 3D maps of the heart (Vektor Medical) are being used to shorten ablation procedure times, resulting in reduced procedure costs and patient risks.
Boston Scientific made what could become a major addition to its electrophysiology portfolio, acquiring AFib mapping startup Cortex, Inc. Cortex might not be a household name outside of electrophysiology circles, debuting less than a year ago with $90M in funding, but it was actually formed from longtime EP mapping innovator Ablacon.
With this approval, Medtronic now offers two PFA technologies available for patients with Afib. With this approval, Medtronic now offers two PFA technologies available for patients with Afib. With a short learning curve for experienced physicians, the possibilities are boundless for the treatment of Afib," said Vivek Reddy, M.D.,
