Abstract 4136694: Impact of left ventricular support devices on myocardial and pulmonary recovery in patients with cardiogenic shock treated with venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

Circulation

Circulation, Volume 150, Issue Suppl_1 , Page A4136694-A4136694, November 12, 2024. Background:Venoarterial-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) is used to treat cardiogenic shock. Patients were categorized as either receiving VA-ECMO alone or VA-ECMO with an LV support device. to 1.96) and VA-ECMO alone (1.94

Why the sudden shock after a few days of malaise?

Dr. Smith's ECG Blog

The VSR is what is causing the cardiogenic shock! Mechanical complications occur acutely and significantly alter hemodynamics leading to comp ensatory mechanism which usually involve vasoconstriction and tachycardia, both hallmarks of cardiogenic shock. PIRP is strongly associated with myocardial rupture.

Anterior OMI with RBBB has VF x 3: how to prevent further episodes of VF?

Dr. Smith's ECG Blog

1) as far as I can tell, there is very little data on amiodarone for this indication 2) amiodarone has beta blockade effects which could be deleterious in a patient with large anterior MI with pulmonary edema and at risk for cardiogenic shock (and she did go into shock. Among the causes of Low Voltage that I list in this Dec.

Pulmonary edema, with tachycardia and OMI on the ECG -- what is going on?

Dr. Smith's ECG Blog

Whenever there is tachycardia, I am skeptical of OMI unless it has led to severely compromised ejection fracction with cardiogenic shock. The green line in picture F shows contrast filling the PDA, representing left to right collateral circulation. Or I suspect that there is OMI simultaneous with another pathology.
